This week's episode is a hip-hop Metroid remix lover's paradise. I made a DJ mix of the best Metroid remixes, beats, & mashups and the themes and songs from their soundtracks.
Why did I make a Metroid remix, mashup, & beat episode?
Because it's a dark, isolating, somewhat creepy game and sets itself up perfectly for hip-hop and trap music. I never really felt scared in a Metroid game like it's Dead Space or some kind of horror, but the atmosphere is a little more creepy than most games because of space, darkness, creepy aliens, and the fear of the unknown.
We all have our history of the game. I played the hell out of Metroid on NES and eventually beat it. Same goes for Metroid 2 for Game Boy, which was even better in my opinion and my god - did it have some good music.
Most of the Metroid remix, beats, & mashups you hear in this episode are from the original Metroid or from later installments like Super Metroid, the Prime series, and so on. I prepped them all for one of our weekly Twitch streams, wherein my man Baker played Super Metroid while I DJ'd live. Anyway, I hope these call out to the Metroid remixer liver within you, too.

These hip-hop Metroid remixes are not a one-time thing, my friend! Each week I release a new mix in an episode of The Mullet Mashup podcast. Also, you can watch us play games and record episodes live on Twitch every Monday night, 8-10pm Eastern. And remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and subscribe via email.
